Mudslinger's Pottery
I have lived in Skamania County, in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, for over thirty years. As a young adult I began throwing pottery and took what was meant to be a short hiatus when my first child was born. Almost 20 years later as I was sending my youngest off to college my husband bought me a pottery class for my birthday; he thought I may enjoy a renewed interest. I’ve been thankful for almost fifteen years now for that birthday present.
I decided after that class to set up a studio of my own; it has been one of my best decisions.I spend my work week doing what I truly enjoy, playing in the mud. Pottery is the one artistic endeavor that I find relaxing, joyful and it allows me to express myself in work that is functional at the same time as it is pleasing to the eye. As a functional artist I want people to use my work every day and enjoy the beauty while putting the pieces to good use. Engaging the community at local fairs and festivals is an integral part of the pleasure pottery brings me and helps me grow as an artist, so most of my work is displayed and sold through these venues.
I enjoy getting to know my customers and I hope my customers get the same joy using these pieces as I do making them.
